The Piedmont
The Piedmont is a beautiful region in northern Italy. Although the region has not yet been discovered by the general holiday public, it has a lot to offer. Wine connoisseurs know the Piedmont mainly for its fine wines such as Barbera, Barolo and Monferrato's own pride the Nizza. In terms of gastronomy, the Piedmont is one of the top regions in Italy. Truffles, hazelnuts and many kinds of cheeses originate from here; you will see them in various dishes of the (h)honest Piedmontese cuisine. And did you know that Bra is the birthplace of slow-cooking?
With its many vineyards and villages, the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. Whether you go hiking, cycling or touring by car or motorbike, every time you will be amazed by the stunning views. The Piedmont is increasingly investing in cycling routes and you can hike to so-called 'Big Benches' that stand at beautiful viewpoints. The nice thing about this region is that there is always a coffee shop or restaurant somewhere along the way where you can stop for a delicious refreshment.
From the B&B, it is 3 kilometres to the town of Nizza Monferrato, capital of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nizza wines. In the town you have a few pleasant walking streets with delicatessens, fashion shops and terraces to have a coffee or an apperitivo.
In the afternoon and evening, you have a wide choice of restaurants in and around Nizza. For wine tasting and buying, visit the Enoteca or the Cantina di Nizza. But even more fun is a visit to one of the numerous wineries in the area. Want to combine a nice walk with a wine tasting? You can! Small-scale wineries are within walking distance of our B&B.
In just over an hour you can be in Turin, the capital of the Piedmont. This surprising city with its many arcades and its historic coffee houses is a must visit.
Acqui Terme, Asti and Alba are some smaller towns in the Piedmont about half an hour's drive from the B&B. Besides an old medieval centre and Roman remains, these towns all have their own traditional markets and events such as the Palio.
All well worth visiting.
And if you want something different, you can reach the Ligurian coast in just over an hour from our B&B. Besides the many beaches and seaside resorts, you can also visit the city of Genoa. A real raw port city and the birthplace of explorer Columbus. You will be amazed. Walk through the medieval winding streets, visit the beautiful castle and see the harbours with the large Aquarium.
During your stay with us, we will be happy to tell you more about all the beauty, and delicacies, the area has to offer.
